  A Little About OSHA

An agency of the United States Department of Labor created by an act of Congress in 1970, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration is tasked with the prevention of work-related injuries, illnesses, and fatality by issuing and enforcing standards for health and safety. Widely criticized in its early years for confusing, burdensome regulations, of which a good portion was due to inconsistent enforcement, OSHA has in the nearly four decades since been able to increase occupational health and safety awareness among labor and management with regards to contingency planning, hazard communications, and working conditions.
